In 2014 he gave a TEDx talk titled “How Hollywood Can Tell Better Love Stories,” which centered on the relationship between cinematic representation and empathy. He has consulted with nonprofit organizations like Feminist Frequency, Hack the Hood, Not In Our Town and The Teacher Salary Project, to develop advocacy work, video scripts, crowdfunding campaigns, social media events and strategic communication plans. His writing on white supremacy, patriarchy and the media has appeared in The Atlantic, Salon, The Establishment, and Bright Ideas Magazine. Imran is a founding staff member of, and former director of communications for, The Representation Project, where he helped create and lead large-scale campaigns to call-out sexist media, increase representation for marginalized groups and reached millions through documentary film and social media advocacy. His second short, Love Reset, is a winner of MTV's 2015 Look Different Creator's Challenge, and is also in post-production.
